Our unwavering love of Free People (FP)

Dick Hayne, the founder of Free People, well done! Seriously, your “shit don’t stink”! haha My husband would argue otherwise maybe, but seriously you have created some fantastic bohemian pieces that really do stand the test of time.

This company was started in Philadelphia (wow that city brings back some fond memories – roaming the streets while my husband was on medical rotations; running from one historical monument to another, which obviously included the Rocky steps (“The Eye of the Tiger” is now running through your mind, you’re welcome); to choosing between Pat’s or Geno’s and having to eat at both before making that decision) and shares a strong message of courage and spirit and embraces femininity. Things that Liane and I gravitate towards when choosing pieces for our own wardrobes.

Free People states upfront that it wanted to reach “a 26 year old girl” who is “smart, creative, confident and comfortable in all aspects of her being, free and adventurous, sweet to tough to tomboy to romantic. A girl who likes to keep busy and push life to its limits, with traveling and hanging out and everything in between.” WELL…I (Lauren) may not be in my 20s anymore (and neither is my sister hmmm), but I definitely feel like I am finally figuring out who I am and where I am going in life. I wish I could say I had my “shit” together at 26 and had the confidence to be bold and test the limits of life, but we are all on our own paths. SO, I hope that I can pass some of my endearing traits onto my daughter…and to my son’s as well. Because some qualities cut across genders.

The price tag of some of these pieces might be a little steep, but the quality, I have found, is excellent and I have been shopping this brand for over 12 years now. The brand carries everything from clothing (for example, dresses, shorts, tops, jackets shoes, hair accessories, jewelry and bags) to beauty and wellness. For me, there are some pieces that I won’t wear (some of the swimwear, for example) and that is just a personal choice.

Here are a few of our favorite pieces at the moment….

They have some of the best graphic T's. Vibrant colors, and lightweight!
Fun flirty and oh so romantic.
You can't go wrong with their loungewear...how comfy does this pairing look?
Can we ever have too many shoes? No, seriously, can we?
Their shoes are really well made and so comfy!!
