Traveling with Us

After living in South Africa, England and now America it is at our core to travel.

We are not travel bloggers, but we do enjoy experiencing as much of this world as we can. Whether it is exploring the very town we live in, venturing to one of the 50 states, or the islands just off our own coast line (like Bermuda), or even taking a long plane ride and traveling to Europe, we love to experience different cultures, food, music, art and most importantly the history of the region — castles, churches, museums and the like.

When packing for a trip there are some essentials that we believe are “must haves” (like a poncho, because haven’t we all lost all sense of time when exploring a city to find that the evening has set in and you didn’t bring a jacket?). And when you fly (as much as one of us does for work) there are some things we don’t fly without; facial wipes, a thin blanket and (swimmers) ear buds. While everyone wants to be stylish when they are traveling, most of us don’t want to be dressed to the nines when clambering around the Yorkshire dales or the Roman Forum. So, sensible shoes and comfortable clothing is key especially if you plan (like we do) to walk a minimum of 7 miles a day.  We believe that comfort can be stylish.

Here you will find tips and tricks on what to pack both in your checked bags in your carry ons. We also have suggestions on what to travel in and making the most of your time while you are on the plane. And, we will offer suggestions on where to visit once you get to where you are going.

Travel – Tips

After living being born and living in South Africa, England and now America it is at our core to travel.

We are not attempting to be travel bloggers, but because we do like to travel (and even wish we could do it more often) we want to share some of what we’ve picked up along the way. A day trip, embarking on a long 14hr flight to Europe, or a hop skip and jump to the East coast allows you to experience different cultures, food (we love food), art, and history.

Packing for a trip can be daunting. You check the weather at least 1/2 a dozen times, you worry about packing way too many shoes or complete outfits, which means you are not saving space. And don’t get me started on packing full bottles of “lotions and potions” or what to pack for the plane – magazines, books, sweater, blanket, snacks, every wire and electrical device in use you get bored…. the lists feel endless.

Following some simple rules can help alleviate some of this stress and ensure that you’ve packed what you need while you’re on your trip:

  • Poncho
  • Facial wipes
  • Travel Seat Bag
  • Mix and Match Outfits
  • Walking Shoes
  • Roll up Rain Jacket
  • Versatile Jewelry with a velvet bag
